We were fortunate to be joined by Anthony J. May, attorney at Brown, Goldstein & Levy. Anthony shared some critical perspective that #hr leaders need to hear.
1. Despite all the attention being paid to new regulation of AI tools like NYC Local Law 144, all of the current regulation of hiring systems like Title VII and the ADA still apply.
2. That means, importantly, that HR leaders need to understand the implications of their current systems in that context — not “what laws might there be next year” but “are my tools compliant with current federal law?”
3. Anthony predicted that HR leaders will pursue audits of their AI tools, much like they would for NYC Local Law 144, but in order to be compliant with current federal law.
